New York-style bagel concept It’s Bagels is to open its first West End outpost later this month with a site on D'Arblay Street in London’s Soho.

The opening will be the group’s second this year and its third overall.

It’s Bagels is the brainchild of New York-born fashion and portrait photographer Dan Martensen, who launched the brand in partnership with Jack Ponting, head baker and pastry chef for Caravan.

The pair debuted their It’s Bagels concept at the Caravan Roastery in Camden, and went to operate it as a delivery service across the capital before launching a bricks and mortar site on Regent's Park Road in September last year.

A second site opened in Notting Hill this summer.

“We’ve had a busy year, with Primrose Hill little more than a year old, and Notting Hill mere months, but Soho has always been a dream for us and when the right site comes up, you grab it,” says Martensen, discussing the new site.

“We love hanging out in Soho and are excited by the creative challenges of catering to this different demographic to the previous neighbourhoods and making some new friends.”

As with the group’s other sites, the Soho menu will feature a range of freshly baked bagels made on site daily with flavours such as poppy, plain, sesame, garlic, and onion.

There will also be the range of cream cheese ‘schmears’ available along with a selection of smoked fish, deli salads, hot and cold drinks, all available to eat in or take away.

Overseen by GRT Architects, the Soho site will hold 15 covers and be designed to ‘reflect the characteristics of its London neighbourhood while paying homage to the style and soul of classic New York City eateries’.
