DoubleTree by Hilton to make Hull debut in 2017
Hilton Worldwide has revealed plans to bring its high-end DoubleTree brand to Hull as the area gears up for its stint as UK City of Culture in 2017.

Construction has already begun on the 165-room site in Ferensway, set to include a destination restaurant and a 1000 sq.m ballroom designed to attract conferences and events to the city.

The hotel is expected to open in late 2017 and will be managed by independent company Leaf Hospitality.

Richard Farrar, founder of Leaf, said the hotel was designed to fill a gap in the high-end market in Hull.

“There’s a real buzz about Hull and a shortage of premium hotels in the city centre but the market is robust and continuing to develop,” he said.

“Now more than ever, the spotlight is on the city to accommodate a rise in business visits and a steady growth in leisure tourism anticipated as a result of Hull’s City of Culture status next year, and we’re confident of its long term sustainability as a vibrant leisure and business destination.”

The hotel will be Leaf’s fourth signing in the North of England after it won the contract to manage the new Hampton by Hilton at Humberside Airport in August.

Leaf is aiming to grow to manage 20 hotels by 2025.

There are over 465 DoubleTree hotels worldwide, including over 30 in the UK.
