Independent Hotel Show 2013 launches next month

Over 300 hotel suppliers, service providers and industry experts will descend on London’s Olympia Conference Centre next month for the second Independent Hotel Show.

The event, which takes place at Olympia’s West Hall on 30-31 October, is a ‘one-stop platform’ for the luxury and boutique hotel industry, with business sessions, trend reports and new product and service showcases on offer.

Some of the hospitality industry’s leading entrepreneurs and operators through the course of the two-day event, providing trends analysis, hotel market intelligence, operational tips and marketing knowledge.

In the Business Solutions theatre, Nick Jones, chief executive of Soho House Group, will join Pride of Britain chief executive Peter Hancock and Gordon Campbell Gray of Campbell Gray Hotels to discuss ‘the definitive hoteliers of our time’; while renowned entrepreneur Luke Johnson, chairman of Risk Capital Partners, will share candid advice on how to achieve transformational growth through acquisitions, roll-out programmes and bold, organic growth strategies.

Meanwhile, in the Industry Issues theatre, Tina Conran of the acclaimed Conran & Partners design practice will uncover the branding and design techniques used by the world’s leading hotel designers. Roberto Pajares, general manager of The Ampersand Hotel, Rafael Bejerano, director of AB Hotels Ltd UK, Robert Nadler, chief executive of Nadler Hotels and Mark Fuller, owner of Sanctum Soho Hotel, will also take to the stage to discuss why London has become one of the most resilient and lucrative markets in the hospitality world.

BigHospitality’s editor Emma Eversham will also be among the speakers at the event, in a discussion entitled ‘The importance of the written word’; offering advice on how to gain positive editorial across all written publications.

Outstanding New Hotel of the Year

Running as part of the event is the Independent Hotelier of the year Award, and the Outstanding New Hotel of the Year Award.The shortlist of finalists for the latter award, which is new for the Indepdent Hotel Show this year, has just been revealed, with the hospitality industry now invited to vote for the hotel they believe is worthy of this esteemed title.

Aimed at all independent, luxury and boutique hotels that have been operating for three years or less, the new award will be given to a property that has ‘taken risks and seized opportunities’ to drive their business. 

“The introduction of the Outstanding New Hotel of the Year Award 2013 reflects our interest in the longevity of this industry and, more importantly, what aspiring, younger hoteliers have to offer going forward,” said Tim Etchells, managing director of the Show’s organisers, SME London. 

“In what I anticipate to be a hotly contested category, applicants will need to have an excellent, proven reputation for quality of service, capturing the imagination and attention of the industry, public and media.”
