Eden Hotel Collection buys its second von Essen hotel
Today’s sale marks the eighth von Essen hotel to be sold off since the company was put into administration in April.
Formerly knowns as Henlade House, the Mount Somerset is situated in the village of Lower Henlade, near Taunton in Somerset. The 19-bed Regency property includes a newly-installed spa and was sold by Christie + Co on behalf of the administrators.
In early November Eden bought the Greenway Spa Hotel in Cheltenham as part of the administrator’s efforts to sell-off of von Essen’s assets.
Jeremy Jones, director of corporate hotels for Christie + Co, said: “The Mount Somerset is another example of a fine country house hotel which will sit comfortably within the Eden Hotel’s Collection award-winning portfolio. Following on from the group’s recent acquisition of The Greenway Hotel and Spa we believe this latest acquisition is a perfect fit.”
“As anticipated, the von Essen Hotels portfolio has generated, and continues to generate, significant interest, and we fully expect to announce further sales in the days and weeks ahead,” he added.
