Chopstix chooses Romania for European debut
Noodle bar brand Chopstix is to open its first site outside of the UK and Ireland this month as it looks to push into continental Europe.

The QSR company will open a Chozen Noodle on the ground floor of the food court within Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International Airport in Romania.

The site will be managed by airport service provide Dnata, marking the first site Chopstix has opened with the franchisee.

The group says that the opening demonstrates potential for the group to expand into new markets and was the result of significant effort developing its supply chain in Europe.

“We are thrilled to be launching our first site outside of the UK and Ireland,” says Jon Lake, Chopstix Group managing director.

“This is a truly landmark moment for the business, we have worked hard to develop our supply chain in continental Europe, and we are now in a very strong position to explore opportunities in new markets,” s

“Our hope is that the launch of the site at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport can act as a springboard for further growth across Europe and beyond for the Chopstix Group.”

Chopstix operates around 150 sites, the majority under its Chopstix brand, but also owns brands Yangtze and Chozen Noodle, which it bought in March 2023.

Last year it opened its first airport site, a Chopstix Noodle Bar in the departure lounge at London Luton Airport.

Last month, the group made its retail debut with the launch of a ‘Wok Pot’ cooking sauce range into Iceland.
