The team behind Spanish restaurant group Brindisa is opening a second site of its croqueta-focused brand Bar Kroketa.

Opening at St Christopher’s Place in London’s West End on 10 June, it will join the original Bar Kroketa, which opened in Soho at the start of 2023.

It will serve a seasonally changing lunch and dinner menu with dishes that will include a crab toastie with house pickles (pictured below); garlic flatbread with smoked anchovies and miso butter; white peach gazpacho with cherry tomato and almond pickle; cuttlefish cooked in its own ink served with potatoes; and a tomato, peach and sumac salad dressed with a mint and parsley white balsamic vinaigrette.

Bar Kroketa takes its name from the Basque spelling of the deep-fried bechamel-based snack. Kroketa options will include one with king prawn kroketa with prawn head alioli; and a spring onion and chive one topped with sour cream and Nacarii caviar.

The restaurant’s interior will use natural and reclaimed materials to create an ‘old-world feel’. Glass doors will open out onto a terrace resembling a Northern Spanish plaza with a corrugated iron central bar front, lined with stools for counter drinking and dining. Guests can choose to sit in the basement, which will have an open kitchen.

“I always loved St Christopher’s Place. It’s a wonderful oasis against one of London’s iconic streets like our first site in Beak Street, Soho,” says founder Ratnesh Bagdai.

“You really do feel away from everything when the sun is shining. The area has a great blend of shoppers and discerning residents. What sets this site apart from on our Soho site - we have a summer-ready terrace and we will be opening for our take on a Spanish breakfast offer.

“We are excited about the opportunity to expand our offer and showcase more of what northern Spain has to offer.”

A dedicated breakfast menu is set to launch in July.
