The Dorchester to get first major renovation in more than 30 years
London hotel The Dorchester is to undergo a comprehensive renovation next year, its biggest in more than 30 years.

Starting in February, the renovation will begin with the entrance to the hotel, as well as The Promenade and The Bar at The Dorchester and two guest floors, with this work to be complete by September 2022.

Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon is reimagining the hotel entrance, The Promenade and the new guest rooms and suites, while Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has been appointed to re-create the bar.

The Park Lane hotel will remain open for guests throughout the renovation with afternoon tea served in the Orchid Room and a new concept for the rooftop restaurant to be launched in spring 2022.

The hotel refurbishment follows refits of its The Grill, Alain Ducasse and China Tang restaurants in the past few years.  These will continue to remain open as normal, as will The Dorchester Spa. The Ballroom, with its own entrance on Park Lane and the Chef’s Table will continue to be available for corporate and social events.

The hotel is part of the Dorchester Collection portfolio of hotels that also includes 45 Park Lane in London; Coworth Park in Ascot; Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée, both in Paris; Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan; Hotel Eden in Rome; The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills; and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

The Dorchester last underwent a large-scale refurbishment in 1989.
