Adam White to take his Riding House brand to Bloomsbury
Riding House Bloomsbury is expected to launch in Spring next year and will be around 20% larger than the Fitzrovia original, which celebrated its 10th birthday earlier this year.
The new site will have 165 internal covers and an additional 65 external covers. All of the internal trading space will be located on the ground floor, with the two smaller basement levels given over to the kitchen and amenities.
“The area appeals to me as it’s very much like Fitzrovia was 10 years ago. It’s a kind of no man’s land but it has enormous potential,” White says.
”I also like how divisive the architecture of the Brunswick Centre is. I think it’s great. Everything north is housing, but to the south you have a lot of media and the more aspirational Lamb’s Conduit Street area, which is more quirky. It’s a real hodgepodge. I love it.”
White - whose House Café Company also operates Rail House Café in Victoria’s Nova development - says the interior will have some similarities to the original Riding House Café on Great Titchfield Street.
Full details are yet to be disclosed, but the team will look to create a warm and welcoming interior that contrasts with the building’s brutalist exterior.
Other operators within Brunswick Centre - which was completed in 1972 - include MEATliquor, Slim Chickens, Leon, and Greek restaurant format Nostimo.
As at Riding House Café, the menu will be ‘international, contemporary and unfussy’ with a number of healthy choices as well as add-ons to encourage regular custom.
While it will feature some Riding House Café classics, the Bloomsbury menu will not be a carbon copy and everything on it will be rethought, White says.
White’s executive chef Henry Omereye will oversee the menu.
A full interview with White will be published later this month.
