Back with a BAM: Black Axe Mangal enters DIY meal kit market
Its diminutive size means it has had to stay closed since the announcement of the first lockdown back in March last year, but now Black Axe Mangal’s (BAM) dishes are finally available to eat again.

Dishes from Lee Tiernan’s Islington restaurant, which is currently ranked at number 51 on the Top 100 Restaurants in the UK, are now available through meal kit delivery platform Big Night across the country.

Tiernan will be offering an monthly(ish)-changing meal kit featuring a number of BAM cult classics, such as his lamb offal flat bread; and mapo tofu, rice noodles and pickles, with this debut menu also featuring the Easter dish cream egg chocolate cookie with sour cream and Luxardo cherries – a whole Cadbury Creme egg encased in cookie dough.

Kits also include bespoke BUZZ sour cherry cola sweets, four Jameson whiskey cocktails, and brunch for the morning after in the form of a reuben flatbread with Russian dressing and a combination of Ogleshield cheese and Montgomery cheddar.

BAM will remain in hibernation mode until lockdown restrictions and social distancing measures are removed completely, with the intention to reopen the restaurant later in the year.

While the restaurant is currently in hibernation mode, Big Night will be the only place to get Black Axe Mangal dishes, until the restaurant can be safely re-opened later in the year.

Big Night was launched by The Laughing Heart founder Charlie Mellor, and Pavel Baskakov, in the spring of 2020.
