The team behind The Palmerston are to leave the renowned East Dulwich pub after being unable to renew their lease.

The pub, which was taken on by owner and executive chef Jamie Younger in 2004, announced on Instagram that the team would be leaving on 3 June having spent 15 years at the premises.

A post on the pub’s Instagram site reads: It is with a heavy heart to all our customers friends and supporters over the last 15 years June 3rd will be our last day of The Palmerston as we know it.”

According to the post, the pub has reached the end of its lease and that Younger is not being offered a new one.

Fans of the pub include MEATliquor founder Scott Collins and fellow publican and chef Henry Harris. The latter posted: ‘sad news indeed. May you find a great new home’ in response to the news.

The bar and dining room is known for its menu that features British and Mediterranean dishes, with dishes on the current menu including the likes of crispy fried mozzarella with harissa yoghurt; n’duja, gnocchi, pumpkin seed pesto and sage; and roast Cornish hake with blood orange, salsify and winter leaves.
