Lunar Pub Company, the group co-founded by former Chez Bruce chef Oliver Marlowe, is to open its first London site this autumn.

Its debut Hunter’s Moon pub will launch in Chelsea in September, and two further opening are planned within the next two years.

The business is the brainchild of Marlowe, who has cooked at Michelin-starred The Glasshouse and was executive chef at London's Cityglen Pub Company, and former Fulham Mitre general manager Hubert Beatson-Hird.

The Hunter’s Moon will be split between a “rustic-chic” 25-cover pub with low seating, and a 48-cover dining room.

It will open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, including Saturday brunch and Sunday roasts, with a menu of modern European dishes created by Marlowe and head chef David Halewood, formerly of The Coach in Clerkenwell.

A more formal daily-changing menu will be served in the dining room, with dishes including pork belly with apple tarte fine, Morteau sausage, choucroute and Madeira sauce; and scallop ceviche with avocado, pickled ginger and truffled ponzu.

The front pub area will offer a casual menu of gourmet scotch eggs, sausage rolls and British charcuterie. A blackboard will champion a range of meat cuts and daily specials, with an extensive wine list sitting alongside premium spirits, lagers and real ales.

“I’m excited to offer the type of food I love, in what’s going to be a very special setting,” says Marlowe. “Food-focused pubs have been offering some of the best dining experiences in London and that’s the bar we’re setting ourselves”.
