Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts is to launch two new hotels and open 900 rooms in London over the next few months.

The multi-million pound developments, which include the expansion of two existing properties, will increase the brand’s room count within the capital to over 3,000.

The 494-room Park Plaza London Waterloo will open in the former Central Office of Information building on the South Bank before the end of 2016, followed by the launch of the 212-room Park Plaza London Park Royal near Wembley.

A further 155 new rooms are also being added to the existing Park Plaza London Riverbank hotel, and Plaza on the River.

Park Plaza – which is operated in Europe by PPHE Hotel Group – said the openings will create almost 300 new jobs and grow PPHE’s London portfolio to eight properties.

It follows a strong development year for the brand, which has also invested in Croatia and Nuremberg.

Greg Hegarty, UK regional general manager at PPHE Hotel Group, said: "As London’s tourism industry continues to attract many visitors, and business travellers are being drawn to the capital, we look forward to catering to popular demand while providing the contemporary design and exceptional service that is synonymous with the Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts brand.”

PPHE also owns the design-led Art'otel brand, which will open a 160-room hotel at Battersea Power Station in 2019.
