Brazilian barbecue site Bossa to open in Leeds
Bossa, a new Brazilian-style restaurant, is to open in Leeds city centre on 19 September.

The 110-cover site, which was formerly occupied by Italian-style restaurant group Zizzi and is next door to a branch of Leeds-born barbecue group Red’s True BBQ, is at 2 Cloth Hall Street.

It will serve food inspired by modern South America, “infused with a modern Latin outlook”, according to Bossa, whose name comes from Brazilian slang for doing something with charm. ‘Bossa nova’ translates as ‘the new trend’.

The menu, from group executive chef Francisco Martinez, will feature Rodizio-style grilled meats from a choice of seven cuts – including the classic picanha (cap of rump) ‒ plus lamb, chicken thighs and sausages, along with a wide selection of sides and desserts. Prices start at £17.90 for the full evening grill, and £12.90 for lunch.

There will also be a wide choice of cocktails, with an emphasis on the traditional Brazilian Caipirinha, plus a range of South American beers and wines.

Interior-wise, the restaurant will aim to offer a friendly atmosphere, with rough timber surfaces, herringbone tiles and painted brickwork; plus painted signage and spray-stencilled patterns, in homage to Latin-American-style design.

Director Robert Melman said: “Leeds is growing as a food and drink destination and we are confident that Bossa is the right offer for casual diners in the city centre looking for high-quality, great value eating out experience.”
