The Stable to open first London site
The new restaurant will be the 14th location for the chain, which is 51 per cent owned by Fuller’s, who purchased it in June 2014 for £7.3m.
The Stable is the brainchild of Richard and Nikki Cooper and Richard’s brother Andy Briggs. It started life in 2009 when the Cooper’s bought The Bull Hotel in Bridport, Dorset and decided to convert an old stable into a pizza and cider bar and restaurant.
Following the success of the first restaurant 12 more in locations have opened including Bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Falmouth, Fistral, Winchester, Weymouth, Winchester, Plymouth, Southampton and Poole.
“We are thrilled that we are opening a cider bar and restaurant in London, one of the most exciting cities in the world, especially in terms of food and dining culture,” said Nikki Cooper.
“We have found a very unique venue that fits our brand’s cool, laid back vibe perfectly. East London, and particularly Whitechapel, are going to love the unique charm of our cider bar and restaurant. This is our first Stable in the capital and we feel very lucky to have found this gem of a location.”
The venue will host regular music nights and the popular Tuck in Tuesday, with selected pizzas, side salad and a drink for only £10. The Stable is famous for naming some of its handmade pizzas after local historical figures or places.
