Accor's Pullman brand awarded preferred status for £26m Liverpool hotel
If planning permission for the whole Exhibition Centre Liverpool development is granted, construction is due to begin on the hotel in autumn this year ahead of a planned opening in spring 2015.
World class
Pullman has been selected by Liverpool City Council as the preferred brand for the hotel, while Branded Hotel Management (BHM), which runs a number of UK hotels, has been appointed as the selected operator of the venue.
"Attracting Pullman to Liverpool is a major coup for our city and another massive step forward in the delivery of our world-class exhibition centre," said Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, announcing the preferred status of Accor's brand.
The completed hotel will feature seven storeys of hotel rooms, a ground floor reception and lobby, a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a gym.
"We wanted to make sure we were able to bring in a high quality hotel brand and an experienced operator to match our ambitions for the exhibition centre, and we’re confident that BHM with Pullman/Accor is the right appointment to enhance the venue’s profile to national and international visitors, as well as increasing the diversity of Liverpool’s hotel offer," he added.
Exhibition centre
If permission is granted, the hotel will be only the second in the UK under the Pullman brand and the first new build. The first UK Pullman opened in September last year after Accor converted its St Pancras Novotel property.
Exhibition Centre Liverpool will be built at King's Dock where it will sit alongside the existing ACC Liverpool, home to the BT Convention Centre and the Echo Arena.
The £40m development is designed to attract national and international events by constructing a three hall space with movable walls, a public atrium, food and beverage outlets, meeting rooms and a business centre, as well as the integrated hotel.
The hotel will be among a number of newly opened and planned hospitality accommodation venues in the city - Accor recently launched its Adagio aparthotel brand in Liverpool and last week Starwood confirmed it would open its second Aloft hotel there next year.
