Signature Living, which operates a number of serviced apartments and accommodation businesses in Liverpool, has acquired the city's Print Building and will open the Signature Hotel on the site later this month.

The company, founded by Lawrence and Katie Kenwright in 2008, completed the acquisition of the Stanley Street venue from administration last month after first exchanging contracts in November 2012.

The former Victorian warehouse is located close to the city's famous Matthew Street area and was previously operated as a hotel, restaurant and bar before a flood closed the business which entered administration in September 2011.

"Exclusivity is the order of the day where our Mathew Street project is concerned," said Katie Kenwright, director of Signature Living. "We will tastefully transform a building which has been in desperate need of restoration for quite some time and our plans will help breathe new life into one of Liverpool’s main tourist areas as well as providing a boost to the local economy," she added.

Signature Living

Signature Living now operates around 300 beds in the Merseyside city including in Victoria Street and in The Vault - a former Masonic Bank building on Bold Street. The Vault was refurbished and opened last year and comprises luxury apartments alongside a 3,000 sq.ft. function room.

"Our apartments on Victoria Street and Bold Street have captured the imagination of visitors to the city looking for somewhere new and unique to stay. They’ve been extremely successful but now we’re upping our game and expanding to create a hotel including a restaurant, members-only bar and nightclub," Kenwright added.

As its name suggests, the Print Building has also been used as a print works, a tea warehouse and even a recording studio used by rock band OMD.

Following a multi-million pound refurb, Signature Living has transformed the building into a luxury hotel which will also boast a restaurant, 24-hour concierge, members-only bar and a nightclub. Each floor will have its own theme but the building's original features, including 300-year old American beams, have been restored to highlight the period building.

The hotel, which will create 40 jobs in the local area, will open on 29 March.
