Unlisted Collection to reopen St John Chinatown as One Leicester Street
The 15-bedroom hotel will open its doors under the new name on 1 May after redesigns of both the rooms and restaurant are completed.
Unlisted Collection, which now operates thirteen hotels and restaurants including the Town Hall Hotel and Nuno Mendes' Michelin-star restaurant Viajante, acquired the Soho venue from administration at the beginning of the year.
Relaxed
At the time of the purchase, Singapore hotelier and restaurateur Peng Loh said the vision St John's Fergus Henderson originally had for the venue was matched by its new owners.
Speaking today, the Unlisted Collection founder said: "I’m ever so pleased to be bringing the Unlisted Collection to Soho and Chinatown. One Leicester Street will offer guests exceptional quality within a relaxed environment."
Tom Harris, previously head chef at St John Chinatown, will head up the new kitchen too - the 46-cover restaurant at One Leicester Street will showcase British produce. A daily changing menu will serve 'elegant yet hearty dishes'.
Both small and large plates will be on offer and the new owner said he was keen to attract both diners looking for a longer meal and those searching for a quick bite in the busy local area.
"We want the bar and restaurant to become a local hub for the neighbourhood as well as our guests, and look forward to welcoming everyone down to see the new space," Peng Loh said.
Harris was at the helm at St John Chinatown when the restaurant gained a Michelin star last year.

The hotel's redesigned interior has been created by Universal Design Studio which has made the rooms softly-lit while the bar features a deep colour palate.
Meanwhile, the restaurant will reflect the design in the bar - dark colours will be lightened with Georgian oak shutters and a Victorian awning will be decorated with plants to contrast with the busy Soho and Chinatown surroundings.
