Dorsia restaurant and members’ club opens in S. Kensington
Co-owners Nick Andreen and Fraser Carruthers, who have named the new venue after the fictional restaurant in the movie American Psycho, are aiming for a “stylish and discreet” concept, which remains “warm and welcoming” to both members and the public alike.
Located at 3 Cromwell Road, Dorsia will house a private members’ club in the basement, a bar on the ground floor and a 40-seater restaurant on the first floor.
“It will be a home from home for its members, a place where they can relax and socialise with like-minded friends, enjoy the best in fine dining and experience impeccable service,” say the owners.
Menu
The fine dining restaurant, which will be open to both members and the public, will be headed up by Alexander Baillieu. The menu will focus on Modern European dishes based on seasonal and local ingredients.
Dorsia’s bar will also serve a range of cocktails devised by mixologists Thomas Gillgren and Frederik Olsson, and will include both classic blends and new innovations.
Design
The venue, previously the Firehouse, has undergone a £2.4m refurbishment by designer George Rose, which included the restoration of period features. These have been combined with contemporary touches, such as a series of changing artwork supplied by Whisper Art Gallery.
The result, hope the owners, is a combination of a “contemporary, cutting edge feel” together with a revival of the “style, sophistication and luxurious decadence” of the 1960s club it once was.
Named Hudson Club at the time, the venue housed events by Jimmi Hendrix, Tom Jones, the Animals and the Moody Blues.
