Anglo restaurant in Farringdon has closed after eight years in business.

The modern British fine dining restaurant, located on Cross Street, was launched by Mark Jarvis in March 2016 as was part of the then burgeoning ‘bistronomy’ movement in the capital.

The closure follows the departure of the head chef Anthony Raffo and restaurant manager Maria Danzanvilliers, who announced last month that they would be leaving the restaurant after four and a half years.

Announcing their departure on Instagram, the restaurant said: “Having full creative control of the restaurant they have created something truly unique with their food and service and won’t be the same without them.

“Their hard work and vision of Anglo has paid off with glowing reviews and accolades. Thank you so much and please everyone follow them to see what they do next but first a well deserved break.”

The restaurant has since deleted its Instagram account and a message on its website reads: “We are sorry to announce that Anglo is now permanently closed.”
