York and Leeds-based steak restaurant and cocktail bar The Cut & Craft will make its debut in the north west later this year with a site in Manchester.

Located on the corner of Mosley Street and York Street, The Cut & Craft Manchester will be housed within the former Manchester and Salford Bank, now Bond by Bruntwood SciTech, a Grade II-listed building that dates back to 1862.

The concept will take over the building’s high-ceilinged as well as the former subterranean vaults, which are being turned into private dining and entertainment spaces.

Launched in York in 2018 by Oscar Akgul and Osman Doganozu, The Cut & Craft is focused on ‘quality steak and sustainable seafood’.

The pair are also behind Italian restaurant format Lucia, which has sites in York and Beverley.

“Our new restaurant will be filled with elegant yet timeless style giving you the ultimate luxury at accessible prices,” Akgul says. “We have worked closely with the local authorities to bring back this rare building to its glorious days. Once this is completed, I believe we’ll make Manchester proud, as well as all the people who’ve worked on this amazing restoration project.”

Bruntwood SciTech COO Ciara Keeling added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming The Cut & Craft to Bond. In breathing new life into this iconic building Bruntwood SciTech have created an inspiring new workspace and leisure destination, one which deserves an exceptional hospitality operator at its heart.”
