Colonel Saab heads to Trafalgar Square for second London restaurant
Hospitality entrepreneur Roop Partap Choudhary is to launch a second London restaurant under his modern Indian restaurant brand Colonel Saab near Trafalgar Square.

The restaurant, which is expected to open in November, will be located on William IV Street and operate alongside the original Colonel Saab site in Holborn, which launched in late 2021.

“We opened Colonel Saab two years ago to celebrate India’s diverse cultures and introduce the capital to the authentic flavours and textures, which are lovingly prepared at homes, street markets and royal kitchens across India,” says Choudhary, who grew up working in the industry in his homeland of India and continues to manage a number of hotels there.

“And we are humbled that our Holborn restaurant was welcomed so enthusiastically by the capital, that we are now able to open a second Colonel Saab, near Trafalgar Square.”

The new restaurant will feature a bar and lounge area alongside an ‘opulent’ dining room featuring ornate chandeliers from Firozabad and eclectic selection of Indian art and artefacts.

There will also be two private dining rooms.

Executive chef Sohan Bhandari will oversee the all-day menu, which, like the Holborn site, will feature an extensive selection of contemporary-style British and Indian fusion dishes, with breakfast, lunch and dinner options available.

Signature dishes include the Andhra-style baby aubergine with curry leaf and tamarind sauce; and the falahari kofta rolls of lotus stem, beetroot and raisin served in a mild curry with crisp potato and green cress.

Colonel Saab is named after Choudhary’s father Manbeer, who was known as ‘Colonel Saab’ during his many years spent in the Indian Army.
