Forza Wine to open at the National Theatre
South London-based rooftop wine bar and restaurant Forza Wine will launch a third, much larger, restaurant at the National Theatre next month.

On the north-west terrace of the Brutalist London landmark, the 160-cover will be run along the same lines as its older siblings in Peckham and Camberwell offering an accessible natural wine list, regularly-changing cocktails list and a ‘sort of Italian’ inspired snack menu.

Dishes on the opening menu will include cauliflower fritti with aioli; mozzarella with figs and hazelnuts; pancetta potato cakes and pickled cabbage; and soft serve.

As at the group’s existing sites, it will be possible for tables of four or more to order the entire menu.

The space is accessible year round with the outdoor terrace covered when necessary and has a split of banquette seating and high-top tables

A private dining terrace is tucked away on the balcony surrounded by greenery for more intimate occasions, serviced by one long table seating up to 24.

Forza Wine will join Lasdun, a 'timeless brasserie' from the team behind Hackney's The Marksman, which launched at the National Theatre earlier this year.

“This is our biggest move yet, and we’re really excited to bring the success of our Peckham and Camberwell sites to the South Bank, opening up what we offer to a wider audience," says Forza Wine co-owners Michael Lavery and Bash Redford.

"The opportunity was a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment - it’s THE National Theatre, not only a world-leading theatre and one of Europe’s most famous Brutalist buildings, but also one of the best terraces in London - a perfect spot for anyone who wants to drop by for some food, drinks and views.’’

Huw Gott, co-founder of Hawksmoor and non-executive director of National Theatre Enterprises, added: “The National Theatre has always been known for the excellence and excitement of what’s on its stages. Now that same excellence and excitement is reflected in its food and drink spaces."

"In partnership with KERB, we’ve been working hard to build a food and drink offer that reflects the quality, care, craft, creativity and diversity of the performances on our stages. With Forza Wine joining Lasdun and a selection of KERB traders at our iconic South Bank home, the National Theatre is set to become a London landmark for food and drink as well as theatre.”
