Taj Hotels to launch 'global food' restaurant later this month
TH@51’s name references both the Westminster hotel's 51 Buckingham Gate address, and the Treehouse rooftop bar at The Taj Dubai, a ‘stylish outdoor oasis with a global food and drink offering’.
Taking inspiration from the Treehouse, this restaurant and bar will look to bring the outside in, with a glass dining room, wood cladding, a soft green and pink colour palette and a light, airy feel throughout.
The kitchen will be open with a prominent robata grill and chef’s table.
The restaurant’s head chef has yet to be revealed, but the high number of India-inspired dishes on the menu may signal the involvement of Sriram Aylur, who runs the Michelin-starred Quilon restaurant at Taj's adjacent The St James Court London property.
TH@51’s food will reflect ‘London’s myriad culinary influences’ celebrating traditions from far flung destinations as well as those closer to home.
Launch dishes will include burrata and kale chaat; bao bun with tofu, orange marmalade, sriracha soy glaze and pickled cucumber; Korean-roast baby chicken; Desi scotch egg; and paneer wellington.
The bar will be overseen by Riccardo Lupacchini, whose CV includes The Rosewood Hotel and The Clipper.
Continuing the global theme, the ‘experiential’ cocktail menu has been split into different sections, each representing one of the earth’s biomes.
