Usain Bolt to open a Jamaican restaurant in London
The world’s fastest runner, Usain Bolt, will launch the first UK iteration of his Jamaican restaurant chain next month.

Tracks & Records will launch on the former site of Wringer & Mangle on Middlesex Street in east London on 10 October.

The restaurant will be the fourth in the group, which already operates sites in Kingston, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay in Jamaica.

Dishes will include Jamaican classics such as jerk chicken; jerk pork; fried fish; and bammy. Less authentic options on the menu include the likes of ‘Island Nachos’, which are plantain chips layered with jerk pork sausage, roast corn salsa, pepper jack cheese, scotch bonnet oil and chipotle; and jerk chicken spring rolls.

Desserts will include Jamaican ice cream sundae; Guinness cookies and cream cheesecake; and rum cake with rum and raisin ice cream.

The ground floor restaurant and basement bar will serve rum from a collection of over 150 bottles, and will serve some traditional cocktails as well as some that are exclusive to the London site.

The basement bar will have a dance floor and ‘chillout area’, and décor will include Usain Bolt memorabilia, wall art and vinyls.

“London is my second home and a place very close to my heart - so it’s brilliant to be sharing a taste of Jamaica in the capital,” says Bolt.

Bolt’s restaurant will join a wealth of new celebrity-backed restaurants in the capital, including Mark Wahlberg’s burger restaurant which is set to open this month; Rick Astley’s microbrewery which aims to launch before the end of the year; and Made in Chelsea stars Lucy and Tiffany Watson’s vegan restaurant that launched over the summer.
