Owners of Ruby’s and Night Tales take over Tottenham pub
Tom Gibson of Ruby’s cocktail bar and Jamie Rule and Louis Hyams of Night Tales and Background Bars will relaunch the two-storey venue, formerly The Pride of Tottenham, on 23 May.
The kitchen will be taken over by Ben Denner from burger restaurant Lucky Chip, which serves burgers including the ‘Kevin Bacon’ beef burger with smoked Applewood cheese, bacon, mustard and pickles; the ‘El Chappo’ with roasted jalapenos, blue cheese and aioli; and the ‘Woody Harrelson’ vegan burger comprising a Portobello mushroom, aubergine, roasted pepper, vegan cheese, ginger sweet chilli and almond milk aioli.
Side dishes include the likes of padron peppers; buffalo hot wings; jalapeno coleslaw; spicy mayo cheese fries; and chilli cheese fries.
Denner will serve Sunday roasts, with options of beef, lamb, chicken and a vegetarian dish served with the usual side dishes.
The pub will offer over 20 lines of beer, including those sourced from local breweries Beavertown, Redemption and Pressure Drop.
The relaunch will see the pub fitted with antique lighting and vintage fixtures sourced from old local schools and businesses. Downstairs, the central bar will offer surrounding seating, whilst upstairs will offer lounge seating.
“Opening a pub has always been a dream of mine and being a local boy, when the opportunity came to take over this amazing building, I couldn’t turn down,” says co-founder and local Jamie Rule.
“I’ve walked past it and admired it since I was a child, so really excited to give it a new lease of life.”
Originally built in 1735, the pub has existed under several guises including a dress factory; a restaurant; a carpet shop; a wedding dress fitters; and the Blue Coats school for girls.
