Chewton Glen team to open Chelsea bar and grill
Located on Pavilion Road near Sloane Square, the 106-cover restaurant is being headed up by chef Adam England, previously at Le Pont de la Tour, with Simon Smith, formerly of London restaurants Berners Tavern and Hakkasan as general manager.
While accessed from Pavillion Road, Hans’ Bar & Grill will be part of 11 Cadogan Gardens Hotel.
The restaurant, which takes its name from Hans Sloane, who is credited with bringing cocoa to the UK, will serve an all-day seasonal menu ‘rooted in British produce and underpinned by classical cookery skills’. Dishes will include a signature duck breast; confit salmon, goats curd and cucumber; and veal carpaccio.
It will also have a focus on chocolate desserts and hot chocolate drinks.
Hans’ Bar & Grill will serve a breakfast and brunch menu, available every day from 7am until midday, featuring eggs benedict and steak tartare alongside fresh-pressed juices and smoothies.
The restaurant will have 20-seat bar as well as a 16-cover private dining room, ‘The Curio’.
Smith will oversee a wine list of more than 195 bins and the restaurant will also have a concise list of classic cocktails designed by Salvatore Damiano and using British spirits.
“We are thrilled to be joining the Pavilion Road family and are proud of the heritage that our location inspires,” says England. “I’m passionate about ingredients and fresh produce so having such great artisanal and family-run shops on our doorstep is a huge bonus for me.”
