Bunga Bunga opens Covent Garden outpost
The group has opened BungaTini, an all-day deli, pizzeria and bar on Drury Lane.
A hidden downstairs Bunga Bunga restaurant will also open its doors in Spring 2017.
Inspired by mobster films such as Goodfella’s and The Godfather, the restaurant will be accessible through a huge industrial meat locker in the back of Bungatini.
Designed as an ‘immersive’ dining experience, guests will have to negotiate with a butcher to enter, and if successful will be lead downstairs to find a 200-cover cabaret club.
Inception Group founder Charlie Gilkes said: “With this new project we look forward to taking our guests on a journey to two very different, but equally enjoyable, experiences.
"This is a new more grown up Bunga Bunga that has definitely not lost its sense of humour as it matures, and we hope that it enters people’s hearts as much as the original has.”
The menu will include pizza and pasta alongside ‘sharing’ drinks dispensed from a four-foot-high statue of David with a strategically placed serving tap.
The new opening will be the eighth venue for Inception Group, which was founded by Gilkes and Duncan Stirling in 2009.
Speaking to The Telegraph in June, the duo said they were aiming to open several more Bunga Bunga outlets over the next few years in a bid to turn the brand in to a national chain.
Inception Group’s venues include Victorian pub Mr Fogg’s Tavern, dance saloon Beaver Lodge and 1940’s-inspired bar Cahoots.
Gilkes and Stirling have also teamed up with their wives to launch health-focused restaurant brand Squirrel in South Kensington.
