Provenance Inns and Hotels Group has acquired its ninth site, North Yorkshire hotel and restaurant The Cleveland Tontine.

The business between Northallerton and Stokesley and owned by Charles and Angela Tompkins since August 2013, will trade under its new ownership from Tuesday 14 June.

Provenance Inns and Hotels Group chairman Chris Blundell said the seven-bedroom hotel and fine-dining restaurant had been acquired as part of the company's plans to 'provide locally-sourced food at the heart of the community it serves'.

“The Cleveland Tontine has built an excellent reputation over a number of years and we are delighted to have the opportunity to build upon this. We will be exploring the possibilities of creating more bedrooms, while underpinning its standing as a fine-dining establishment by offering our own seasonal and locally-sourced produce," he said.

Provenance Inns and Hotels, named Best Accommodation Operatorat this year's Publican Awards, currently operates across eight sites in Yorkshire - The Carpenters Arms in Felixkirk near Thirsk, The Durham Ox in Crayke, The Oak Tree Inn in Helperby near Boroughbridge, the West Park Hotel in Harrogate, West Acre Lodge in Boltby, The Black Bull in Moulton, The Crown and Cushion in Welburn and The Punch Bowl in Marton cum Grafton.

Director Michael Ibbotson said of the new acquisition: “We know that customers, both old and new, will have high expectations and we are committed to delivering the best possible experience.”
