Jean-Christophe Novelli eyes Manchester restaurant site
Jean-Christophe Novelli has revealed plans to open his first restaurant in Manchester.

The Michelin-starred chef is working with the city's Don Giovanni restaurant to create a special menu prior to launching his own venue.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Novelli is ‘in conversation’ with an unnamed hotel to open a site in the area.

The chef opened his last UK restaurant at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Liverpool in 2015 after a six-year break from the industry.

However, just four months after the hotel opened its doors, the chef appeared to cut ties with Hilton and the venue has since been re-branded.

Novelli will now launch a bespoke menu at Don Giovanni in September 2016, and has created a special Christmas offering.

He is also planning to host a series of events at the restaurant, including ‘an audience with’ night where guests will be treated to ‘an evening of food and French fancy’ with the chef.

Novelli said: “I am truly excited to be working with Adam and his Team at Don Giovanni and look forward to creating a memorable menu based around my French/Italian roots for such a fantastic city.”

The chef also praised the area’s dining scene, telling the Manchester Evening News that it was ‘about time’ his friend Gordon Ramsay began looking for sites in the city.

Adam Karim, owner of Don Giovanni, said, “We’re honoured to welcome Jean Cristophe Novelli into the restaurant, and for our teams to work so closely to develop new, unique dishes for our customers.”

Novelli set up the Novelli Restaurant Ltd brand this year, which has devised a number of restaurant concepts aimed at top quality hotels.
