Golf resort and hotel The Belfry, has appointed Glen Watson, a former chef consultant to Albert Roux, its chef director in a bid to turn the West Midlands hotel into a top gastronomic destination.

Watson, who joined the Albert Roux Consultancy in 2007 after working in a number of hotels, including Gleneagles, the Landmark and The Savoy, will oversee a team of 60 staff across the hotel's three restaurants which he aims to revamp completely under his direction.

Operated by De Vere Hotels & Resorts on behalf of owners KSL Capital Partners, The Belfry is currently undergoing a £26m refurbishment to re-establish it as a world class leisure destination.

Watson said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to return to resorts. The Belfry is known around the world for its status as a golfing resort; I hope to now put it on the map for its culinary credentials.”
