Gleneagles unveils £1m bedroom revamp
Thirty-six of Gleneagles’ 232 rooms have been given a makeover, now including in-shower ‘feature walls’ portraying scenes from the hotel’s championship golf courses. The rooms also now contain 39-inch TVs, under-floor heating and environmentally-friendly LED lighting.
“The new rooms are already proving very popular,” said Gleneagles’ executive housekeeper Marguerite Courtney. “We’ve tried to bring a little of the outside inside, with modern twists on traditionally Scottish design.”
The hotel, which will host the 40th Ryder Cup in 2014, has unveiled a number of new developments in recent years including a £3m overhaul of its Dormy Clubhouse in 2011, the installation of a new outdoor whisky and cigar bar (The Blue Bar) in the same year, and a £1m investment in its PGA Centenary Course in 2012.
