The Five Fields restaurant to open in Chelsea
The 40-cover fine-dining venue will open next Tuesday (21 May), with a modern, seasonal menu inspired by the area between Chelsea and Belgravia which was known as The Five Fields in the 18th century.
Bonnyman, who previously worked at two-Michelin-starred Corton in New York, has placed an extra focus will be placed on native British artisanal produce, with herbs and vegetables grown at the London restaurant’s own gardens in East Sussex.
Head chef Marguerite Keogh (previously from The Berkeley) and pastry chef Chris Underwood (from Tom Aikens) have helped devise the two menus that are available for dinner - a three-course prix fixe menu and an eight-course tasting menu.
On the menu
Dishes include foie gras parfait with pickled mushrooms and carrots; roast Orkney scallop with cauliflower and pistachio; and peanut butter mousseline with bergamot and celery granita.
Matthew Widdowson - previously bar manager of Bluebird on King’s Road – will oversee The Five Fields' bar area, with an international wine list of approximately 300 bins. Head sommelier is Nicolas Arthuis.
Meanwhile, Heather Young (formerly of Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons) will look after The Five Fields’ vegetable garden in East Sussex, which offers the kitchen access to a collection of more than a hundred herbs - many of which are very rare or nearly forgotten.
The three-course menu is priced at £45 while the eight-course tasting menu is £65. Bottles of wine will start at £29 (£8 a glass), with Champagne on offer from £62 (£12 glass).
Private dining
The interior of The Five Fields has been designed by Robert Angell Design Studio, taking inspiration from nature with pale green and ivory tones. The dining room features cream shutters, tiled walls with the signature cocoa plant motif, along with a coffered ceiling, a white and biscuit coloured marble floor, and caramel and ivory leather dining chairs.
The Rocque Room - a 10-seat private dining room - is situated on the first floor and will have a small adjacent lounge. It is named after John Rocque, an 18th century cartographer whose maps of London refer to the area as The Five Fields.
A cosy lounge bar adjoins The Rocque Room and is available for drinks both before and after dining.
The Five Fields opens on Tuesday 21 May and is situated at 8-9 Blacklands Terrace, Chelsea.
