Convivial Hotels founded, acquires two venues out of administration
Bolton-based Convivial Hotels acquired both hotels in a 'multi-million pound deal' and is now planning significant refurbishment, investment and development programmes in both properties to increase their attractiveness to a range of guests.
Operating hotels
The new business is owned by chartered surveyor Jeremy Jones who also owns several other companies including Convivial Management Solutions (CMS) which already operates around 45 licensed businesses across the UK including restaurants, pubs, clubs and hotels.
"We have experience in operating hotels in administration on behalf of insolvency practitioners and the banks for several years," said Jones, announcing the deal.
"Now we are looking forward to developing Rossett Hall Hotel and Charnwood Hotel under our own Convivial Hotels brand into luxury destinations suitable for the leisure, business and wedding markets.
"With immediate effect we have introduced a substantial investment plan for both hotels to bring them to a high standard," he added.
Jones also owns a brewery, small pub company, health and safety firm and a PR business.
New blood
The 50-bedroom Georgian Grade II-listed Rossett Hall Hotel in Rossett, near Wrexham in North Wales, was already being operated by CMS after the company which owned the hotel entered administration last year.
Now, under new ownership, work has already begun on refurbishing and expanding the existing bridal suites located in the hall.
The 45-bedroom Charnwood Hotel in Blyth, Nottinghamshire, is part of the Best Western collection of venues and was recently nominated as one of the top three 40-60 bedroom properties under the Best Western banner.
Two new general managers have been appointed to oversee the development of the hotels - former Solberge Hall Hotel general manager Martin Elliott takes the top role at Rossett Hall Hotel while Mark Tulett, Charnwood Hotel's new GM, has previously worked as a chef and hotel manager and owner.
