Aviko Foodservice is launching two variants of its new Superlong Fries – Original Superlongs and Skin On Superlongs.

The Superlongs are supplied frozen and can be cooked to order in minutes. The product is set to help caterers target an emerging sales opportunity – a growing consumer demand for products with a more homemade, artisan feel.

Aviko general manager, Mohammed Essa, said: “We are putting the fun back into fries and going to extra lengths to keep caterers firmly in the driving seat when it comes to offering value for money and a real point of difference, all the while monitoring the market for emerging trends.

“Skin on fries are very much the taste of the moment with consumers. Caterers have a real opportunity to offer a fry with a homemade feel and an unmatched flavour. Aviko’s Skin On Superlongs have a deep golden colour that looks fantastic on the plate. Also, the fact that they are they are longer means caterers will be able to get more portions per kg.”

Restaurants, pubs and hotels

Made from premium-quality potatoes, Aviko’s Skin On Superlongs are supplied frozen and come in two cut sizes – 9.5mm and 11mm – while the Original Superlongs are available in cuts of 7.4mm and 9.5mm. The new premium fries reflect the needs of full-service restaurants, pubs and hotels that are keen to provide a better-quality offering.

Essa added: “Aviko’s own research reveals that fries play an integral role as a side and can be twinned with the overwhelming majority of the most popular main dishes across the pub, hotels and full service restaurant sectors. In many cases, the quality of the side can help to up-sell the main so we are confident that caterers will see the commercial advantages of stocking Superlongs.

“Whether you choose the Original or ‘Skin On’ variety, we believe 2012 will be the year when fries with a rustic twist really take off!"
