The Karali Group has become the UK’s largest Taco Bell operator after acquiring 46 restaurants under the brand from a single franchisee.

Karali QSR, which is part of the Karali Group of Companies, purchased the sites from Caskade Group in a pre-pack administration.

National law firm Freeths advised Karali on the deal, which will preserve more than 650 jobs.

“As a valued and important client, it’s always a pleasure to work with the Karali Group as it continues to grow and strengthen the business in the UK and beyond,” says Iain Bowler, national head of commercial and franchise at Freeths.

“We wish Karali QSR great fortune as it begins this next stage of its growth as the largest Taco Bell operator in the UK. With Karali's extensive franchise experience, we're confident this deal will be a huge success.”

According to MCA, Restaurant’s sister site, Karali did not acquire Caskade’s Taco entire Bell portfolio, with five branches permanently closed in Leatherhead, Dartford High Street, Junction 11, Tunbridge Wells, and Basingstoke.

Karali Group, which is led by Salim Janmohamed and Karim Janmohamed, is a diversified, multi-national hospitality and real estate platform operating franchises in the fast-food, casual dining and hospitality sectors.

It was previously the largest independent UK Burger King franchisee, operating 74 sites. However, it exited the portfolio in 2022.

Last month the group acquired Crosstown Doughnuts in a pre-pack administration deal.
