Pascere in Brighton to close
Well-received Brighton restaurant Pascere is to close following the sale of its lease to a better burger brand.

Owner Amanda Menahem hopes to relocate the restaurant to a “more suitable location” in the near future and will continue with the current team running pop-up events until new permanent premises have been secured.

It is understood that the business - which received a rave review from then Guardian restaurant critic Marina O’Loughlin shortly after opening - was trading well and that the decision was made due to a strong offer being made for the lease.

The restaurant - which serves modern European dishes alongside a creative wine list with a focus on sparkling - will close its doors on 15 December.

“Our relocation will be to a venue that will wholly suit our offering and we will remain true to what makes us uniquely Pascere,” says Menahem, who has a background in publishing and HR.

“I am so proud of what the team have achieved so far. In the last few months alone, we have received numerous accolades including the Michelin plate and two forks, entry into The Good Food Guide and retained our two AA rosettes.”

“Most importantly we created something special that people genuinely love. It humbles me that both new and loyal customers continue to give us such wonderful feedback both in person and through the various on-line channels. I am honoured to have played a part in so many special occasions.”

Located in Brighton’s South Lanes, Pascere launched in summer 2017. Flank chef Tom Griffiths was originally down to open the restaurant but parted ways with Menahem a few months ahead of the launch. Johnny Stanford was the opening chef but left early this year with sous chef James King stepping up to the plate.
