The group’s newly established parent company, JKS Hospitality, reported a turnover of £73.7m in its financial results covering the 65 weeks ended 31 March 2024.
The loss before tax for the period was £5.1m, while the adjusted EBITDA prior to management fees and operating lease costs amounted to a profit of £8.6m.
By the end of the period, the group operated a total of 25 restaurants across the UK and Middle East.
JKS’s portfolio includes singular high-end restaurants such as Gymkhana, Lyle’s and Kitchen Table, as well as expanding brands such as Berenjak, BAO and Hoppers.
Post period end the group has further expanded its estate with openings including Ambassadors Clubhouse and Bao City in London, and the launch of a US residency under the Berenjak brand within Soho House’s DUMBO House in Brooklyn, New York, which is set to run for at least two years.
Berenjak, which is led by chef Kian Samyani and opened its first restaurant in Soho in 2018, is set to launch its third London site later this year in Mayfair.
According to Samyani it is one of four Berenjak sites set to open in the next six months, with further international expansion also mooted.
Berenjak opened its first international outpost in Dubai’s Dar Wasl district in late 2023 and subsequently launched outposts in Sharjah and Doha’s Souq Waqif marketplace.
In December 2023, Restaurant reported that JKS was eyeing expansion into the US market and ‘actively exploring’ opportunities in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
At the time the group also said it was eyeing further growth in the Middle East.
JKS is run by siblings Jyotin Sethi, Karam Sethi and Sunaina Gokani.
