In a statement posted to Instagram over the weekend, Parkin confirmed that he had left the restaurant, which he joined in October 2022, but gave no further reason for his departure.
He said: “After an incredible two-and-a-bit years, today was my last day at the Cliff House Hotel and at the House restaurant.”
Parkin described his time at House as ‘an incredible journey full of ups and downs’.
He thanked the restaurant’s team for their support, including head chef James Freeman.
“I’m off on holiday now and a bit of time off,” he added.
Parkin’s CV spans more than 20 years and includes stints at renowned Copenhagen restaurants Noma and Kommendaten, as well as time as a private chef for Lord and Lady Bamford.
He joined House following a brief stint at The Brickmakers Arms in Surrey.
Prior to that he spent several years overseeing The Tudor Room at Great Fosters Hotel in Surrey, which attracted a Michelin star just four months after he joined it in 2019.
House originally earned a Michelin star back in 2010 when it was led by Dutch chef Martijn Kajuiter, with Parkin retaining the accolade during his two years behind the stoves there.
It is yet to be announced who will replace Parkin in leading the restaurant.
