Burger & Lobster will open a restaurant in Brighton’s The Lanes next month, its first new UK site in eight years.

It will be a second play for a regional presence for the Misha Zelman-led group, which has previously operated restaurants in locations including Cardiff, Bath and Manchester.

On 15 Market Street, the restaurant will join nine London sites and nine international sites in locations including New York, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuwait City.

Last year, the group said it was looking to expand across the UK following a strong set of financial results.

Burger & Lobster saw its turnover rise by 47% to £36.5m and reported a pre-tax profit of £387,460 while EBITDA rose from £1.8m to £2.2m.

“We feel it’s an exciting time to expand our offering into new regions and we have ambitious growth penned for the next few years, which will see our presence more than double in the UK,” says Zelman, who founded Burger & Lobster in a Mayfair pub in 2011.

“Brighton stood out as the perfect place for our first launch in a while, thanks to its vibrant food scene and unique energy.”

Burger & Lobster initially only offered three menu items – a beef burger, a whole lobster and a lobster roll for £20 each – but the menu has since been expanded significantly.

The current menu includes lobster croquettes; grilled prawns; chicken burgers; and lobster linguine alongside the three dishes it is best known for.

Burger & Lobster says it plans to work with local suppliers and business to create several exclusive items for the Brighton branch.

The menu will also include the brands first-ever brunch-style offering.
