Rosa’s Thai swings into loss

Rosa’s Thai has reported a significant increase in sales and adjusted EBITDA For the 53 weeks to 31 March 2024, but has swung to a loss after tax.

Sales were up from £35.58m to £46.77m, during the period, while adjusted EBITDA increased from £3.15m to £4.65m, according to accounts for Rosa’s London Ltd, just filed at Companies House.

However, the business reported a loss after tax for the year of £508k, compared to a profit after tax of £347k, the previous year.

Despite ongoing inflationary pressures in the year, the company has continued to grow organically, opening a further seven new restaurants in the year, the directors said.

During the financial year, Rosa’s closed one site, in Nottingham. A number of UK sites “are legally committed” read the director’s strategic report, with recent openings in Bristol, Norwich and Kingston, and further openings scheduled in the coming year, including Cheltenham and Reading.

The directors said they remained commitment to providing clear career paths for their teams and have continued to invest heavily in this area, with the aim of making Rosa’s an employer of choice in the hospitality sector.

“Our fantastic teams across the country remain very engaged as evidenced in the all-time high customer ratings consistently achieved during the year.”

Rosa’s CEO Gavin Adair is to step down from his role at the end of the year and will be replaced by Sarah Hills.

Adair will become a non-executive director at this time, supporting the board and management team as the business grows.
