Dubai restaurant Somewhere will make its UK debut later this month with a new opening in Harrods.

The brand, which has an intentionally ambiguous by name to reflect Dubai’s melting pot of cultures and cuisines, serves a menu of globally-inspired dishes using Middle Eastern ingredients.

Dishes on the menu will include batata harra truffle fries; beetroot shawerma rice; wagyu kabab bao (pictured below); guacamole hummus; black truffle and parmesan fries with coriander, garlic and chilli; and shrimp kunafa.

For dessert there’s cerelac um ali - a combination of cerelac milk, puff pastry and crushed pistachios - and French coffee baklava, a chocolate basbousa pudding topped with coffee ice cream, crisp chocolate filo and a roasted hazelnut and tahini peanut butter sauce.

The restaurant will open in the department stores in two phases: the first phase will have 60 indoor covers and space for 12 to 14 covers on the terrace, while phase two will expand capacity to include another 50 indoor covers and 45 on the terrace.

Harrods will be the first Somewhere outpost in the UK, joining seven locations in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

“Inspired by our travels, we invite you to experience a piece of our journey,” says Amal Almarri, Somewhere’s co-founder.

“Much like finding a painting and bringing it home as a memento, Somewhere celebrates the unique from everywhere. The space is elegantly well-travelled, with an eclectic touch, showcasing Middle Eastern influences through craft and curation.”

The restaurant will be located on the fourth floor of Harrods, and will join dining destinations at the store that include Kinoya ramen bar; Kerridge’s Fish & Chips; The Georgian; Gordon Ramsay Burger; Em Sherif; and Dim Sum by China Tang.

“At Harrods, our focus is on partnering with forward-thinking brands that deliver exceptional value to our discerning clientele,” says Ashley Saxton, director of restaurants and kitchens at Harrods.

“The opening of Somewhere at Harrods exemplifies our dedication to providing world-class dining and unforgettable experiences in the heart of London. We are delighted to bring Somewhere’s unique blend of Middle Eastern cuisine and globally inspired design to the UK, perfectly aligning with our mission to be a hub for extraordinary dining and cultural experiences.”

Somewhere opens on 17 December.
