Italian restaurant group San Carlo has rebranded its Cicchetti site in Knightsbridge to its flagship San Carlo brand.

As of earlier this week, the restaurant - which launched adjacent to Harrods on Hans Road in 2022 - offers a la carte rather than small plates in keeping with the group’s eponymous and largest restaurant brand.

According to its website, San Carlo Knightsbridge offers a ‘traditional Italian food and beverage menu in keeping with San Carlo’s timeless style’ that makes use of the ‘best of new-season produce’.

The 100-cover restaurant spans two floors and has a standalone bar and a private dining room for 18 guests.

The interiors reflect Venetian architecture, influenced by residents like Carlo Scarpa, featuring varnished wood and a light palette inspired by water taxis and luxury yachts of the region.

Founded in Birmingham in 1992 by Carlo di Stefano, San Carlo operates a total of 25 premium casual Italian restaurants in the UK in locations including London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Liverpool.

In addition to its UK sites, the group - which is now run by Carlo’s son Marcello -operates restaurants in Kuwait, Bangkok and Qatar and has projects in the pipeline in Bahrain, Dubai and Miami.

Last year, turnover increased by 137% to £68.9m with the group reporting a profit before tax of £3.5m for the full year to 24 September 2022.
