Ollie Dabbous will step down from his role as chef patron at Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Hide early next year.

Dabbous – who launched the high-profile Piccadilly venue for owners Yevgeny Chichvarkin and Tatiana Fokina in 2018 – will hand the reins to current group executive chef Josh Angus, who will become chef director.

Angus was part of the launch team at Hide and also worked at highly-rated Charlotte Street restaurant Dabbous.

Dabbous says that he plans to enjoy some time with his family and friends before focusing on his next adventure.

“It has been an amazing experience helping set up and run a restaurant of such scale and with so much attention to detail,” he says. “When we started it was a building site, now it feels like I am leaving a well-loved and established restaurant. Wishing the team continued success in the future; it is in great hands.”

Fokina, Hedonism Group CEO, added: “We are very grateful for everything that Ollie has contributed towards Hide’s success and wish him the best of luck for his future ventures. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a strong kitchen team, who have been together for many years, and we are confident that Hide will continue to thrive under Josh’s leadership.”

Hide was one of the biggest restaurant launches of the past decade employing 200 staff, seating over 200 covers and offering the largest wine list in the UK.

Since Hide launched, Chichvarkin and Fokina have opened further hospitality ventures including Mayfair’s wine bar The White Horse.
