Japanese restaurant Maneki Ramen has launched a crowdfunding campaign ahead of the launch of its new opening in Birmingham next spring.

Launching today (22 November) on the Crowdfunder platform, the proceeds of the fundraise will go towards the costs of opening a second Maneki Ramen in a 2,000sq ft site in the Jewellery Quarter.

Options include a ‘one-of-a-kind’ experience at one of Guy Ritchie’s Wild Kitchens where guests will join Australian chefs Shannon Bennett, executive chef at Melbourne’s Vue de Monde and judge on MasterChef Australia, and George Calombaris, a long-term judge on MasterChef Australia, working alongside Maneki Ramen’s head chef Pete Dovaston to create a feast inspired by foraged ingredients.

The menu will be cooked over open fire at Guy Ritchie’s Wiltshire estate.

Other rewards are available from £30, including at-home cooking kits, advanced copies of the restaurant’s first cookbook, and aprons and T-shirts, produced in collaboration with High Dive Apparel.

Additional experiences include a place at the table for intimate dinners in collaboration with guest chefs including Jamie May from The Butcher’s Tap in Marlow) and the team from the Matsudai Ramen in Cardiff.

Also available to pledge for is a wedding feast for 100 guests, featuring all the Maneki Ramen classic dishes, private dining experiences at Maneki Ramen and a Japanese cooking masterclass.

It will be led in the kitchen by head chef Pete Dovaston, who has spent time living in Tokyo, New York and China.
