The team behind Hastings-based indoor street food market Heist is looking to open a second location in the south of England.

Called The Ghost at the Feast, the new food hall will be located in Chichester, West Sussex, on North Street in the city centre.

Heist launched in 2021 in the East Sussex town of St Leonards-on-Sea near Hastings and is a collective of local, independent food and drink businesses. Brands at the venue include Bangkok Delivery Boy, The Clam, Detroit-style pizza player Cutie Pies, Wild Dogz, and Three Legs Brewing Co.

Information on the vendors for the Chichester site are yet to be revealed, but it is understood that it will have space for 11 food and drink outlets, including eight restaurant stalls, a beer bar and a coffee bar.

A statement submitted to the planning application says the proposed venue was designed for the city's 20-40 year-old population.

'At present the city centre has a limited evening and night-time economy so this venue would be a welcome addition to the existing offer,' it reads.

'It is recognised that the vicinity around this venue includes a number of existing night-time establishments, close to main visitor attractions and is within the central business area of the city. There is a need for a safe, enticing, diverse and appealing evening and night-time offer where people can find a range of activities.

'This is especially important for the 20-40 year old age groups, where there is a limited offer and the city centre loses out to surrounding locations.'
