China Tang launches dim sum concession within Harrods Dining Hall
Cantonese stalwart China Tang has launched a dim sum counter in Harrods Dining Hall taking the space that was previously home to Assembly Mezze & Skewers.

The 25-cover Dim Sum by China Tang offers a selection of 14 savoury and two sweet dim sum. These include scallop dumplings topped with caviar, truffle and shiitake mushroom bao; Iberico pork xiao long bao; wagyu taro puffs; and chicken dumplings in spicy sauce.

More substantial options include roast duck and stir-fried A5 Wagyu beef in black pepper – both ‘signature favourites’ from the original Park Lane restaurant which was launched by the late Sir David Tang in 2005.

Dim Sum by China Tang’s kitchen is overseen by head chef James Xia who has worked at some of London’s best-known Chinese restaurants.

Xia is working alongside dim sum chef Chef He, China Tang’s Dim Sum master, who has been with China Tang at The Dorchester since 2019.

“We are thrilled to bring Dim Sum by China Tang to Harrods in what marks the beginning of an exciting five-year partnership,” says Nathalie Ford, VP Europe and Middle East for China Tang.

“It is a significant new chapter for the brand, allowing us to offer guests an elevated dim sum experience in one of the world’s most iconic dining locations. This collaboration embodies our commitment to partnering with the best of the best, and we are especially grateful to Ford Consultancy for facilitating this deal.”

Following Sir David Tang’s death in 2017, China Tang has continued under the stewardship of Lai Sun Dining, the operating shareholder.

A Hong Kong-based hospitality group and part of the Lai Sun Group, Lai Sun Dining is chaired by Dr Peter Lam and operates over 20 brands across 25 venues worldwide.

The space that houses Harrods Dining Hall was relaunched in 2019 having previously been focused on takeaway options.
