Announcing the decision on LinkedIn, Brown says he is calling ‘last orders’ at his time at the company after having had “the most incredible journey” leading the brewer’s bars business.
Following the announcement, Sky News reported he was set to be revealed today (26 September) as the new CEO of Prezzo, the Cain International-backed casual dining chain.
“As a bartender in Glasgow during my studies I could never have dreamed of a career in hospitality that took me to all four corners of the planet opening bars and running businesses with the most awesome bunch of people,” he writes.
“I was privileged to work with some amazing talented ‘BrewDogers’ both past and present and their energy, drive and creativity led the business to what it is today.
“I want to thank James Watt, Martin Dickie and David McDowall and the rest of the business for putting their trust in me and for agreeing to do some pretty incredible (sometimes insane) projects over the years."
Brown joined BrewDog in 2015 having previously spent time at managing director of Boots Opticians. His departure follows the exit of co-founder and former CEO James Watt earlier this year.
He will remain a shareholder of BrewDog.
This story has been updated to include Brown's forthcoming new role as Prezzo CEO.
