The first floor, 50-cover Tamarind Terrace has its own central bar and is the first solo project by designer Stephanie Barba Mendoza, formerly one of the senior team at Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS).
The space is described as feeling 'instantly feminine and peaceful' and features enveloping curved pale teal velvet upholstered banquette seating, and a central bar crafted from champagne-coloured sheer fabric by Fahmeed Khalique, which glows under the open sky.
Tactile walls made from Jesmonite depict floral motifs and are complemented by antiqued glass detailing with low to mid-level lighting, and overflowing verdigris planters.
The restaurant has also launched a terrace menu available from 3pm that features a range of small plates, salads, grills and desserts alongside a new list of cocktails created by cocktail maestro Carole Brown in collaboration with Boatyard Distillery. A la carte and tasting menus are also available at lunch and dinner on the terrace.
The Indian restaurant has also released a 30th Birthday Tasting Menu to celebrate its milestone as one of the capital's most enduring restaurants. Dishes on the menu include Rajasthani churi chaat with sweet and tangy chutneys; Malai chicken tikka; coconut chilli seabass; crispy lobster tossed in a sweet chilli sauce; and grilled lamb chop with spiced marinade and pistachio crust.
The menu is priced at £95 per head with wine pairing at an additional £82 a head for a minimum of two guests.
Tamarind was the first Indian restaurant in London to receive a Michelin star and serves a modern twist on the flavours and textures of India.
