Rebecca Mascarenhas’ Barnes restaurant Church Road will relaunch as the more casual HomeSW13 mid next month having closed quietly yesterday (18 August).

Mascarenhas - who along with chef Phil Howard owns the Michelin-starred Elystan Street and Kitchen W8 - says she is handing over the reins to Church Road senior team members Craig Gordon and Alan Parry.

The new venture will be run along the same lines to HomeSW15 in Putney which offers ‘comforting, yet innovative, modern British food’ in a relaxed setting and is also run by Gordon.

Dishes at HomeSW15 include sticky chicken tacos, mango salsa, pickled red onion; mushroom mac 'n' cheese, garlic and chilli crumb; and beef bavette, bourbon peppercorn sauce and fries.

Church Road was originally launched by Mascarenhas in 1986 as Sonny’s and ‘over the many successful years it became a much-loved favourite for generations of local residents’.

In 2019, the restaurant was restyled by Mascarenhas and Howard as Church Road offering what was described at the time as ‘simple, brutally seasonal, ingredient-led cooking’

One of West London’s best-known and most influential restaurateurs, Mascarenhas also owns  Flour + Water in Putney.
