All’onda, which took its name from an Italian phrase meaning ‘on the wave’, permanently shut its doors on 18 June, having only launched some six weeks earlier on 2 May.
A statement on the restaurant's website attributed the closure to 'unforeseen personal circumstances of the owners'.
All’onda was the creation of first-time restaurateur Cordula Schulz and led by former Hélène Darroze at The Connaught chef Andrea Granzarolo.
The menu featured variations on the classic risotto including a spring green risotto primavera; and squid ink risotto (pictured). There were also ‘more playful’ options including a pumpkin and shiso risotto; seaweed, bottarga and white asparagus; and sweetbread and artichoke.
All’onda's closure was highlighted by The Observer food critic Jay Rayner who said he only learned that the restaurant had shut when trying to source pictures for what he said would be a 'rave review'.
“It’s a crying shame,” he said.
“Chef Andrea Granzarolo’s risottos were as delicious as they were eye-poppingly beautiful and the £39 lunch menu was a steal for food of this quality.”
